Clorox Air Purifier: 11010 Large Room True HEPA Review

If you’re looking for a stylish air purifier with true HEPA filtration that handles Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) with ease, the Clorox 11010 Large Room True HEPA Air Purifier can meet your needs without breaking your budget. This relatively inexpensive purifier is one of the best we’ve tested, combining flawless HEPA filtration with superior VOC dispersion. Filters are also relatively inexpensive and can be replaced on a regular basis – around $100 per year. If you need a faster particulate or VOC removal rate, there are better air purifiers out there, but if you want consistent, all-around performance, the Clorox 11010 is well worth the price.

The Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier has a 360 degree design, which means it draws in air from all directions. The LED control panel is located on the top of the device, with a small power indicator on the front.
While true HEPA filtration is generally much slower than using a coarser filter, the Clorox 11010 still manages to keep up with the rest.
We test air purifiers in two main ways: how well they filter out particles such as allergens, and how well they neutralize volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as new paint fumes.
The Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier is a reliable all-round air purifier. It has an average particulate removal rate that may not seem like much, but it’s remarkable performance for a purifier with a true HEPA filter.
To be a true HEPA filter, it must remove 99.97% of all microscopic particles down to 0.3 microns. To do this, the air must pass through a very fine mesh, which takes longer than when using a finer mesh. So while true HEPA filters are capable of removing more particles from the air than other filtration methods, they are also much slower. Being able to keep up with HEPA-free cleaners is an impressive feat.
When it comes to VOCs, Clorox 11010 is no fool, ranking 4th among all cleaners we tested. This means the Clorox 11010 is perfect to use whenever you need to diffuse smoke, such as when you’ve just painted a room or just received a mattress that needs to be ventilated.
The True HEPA Cylindrical Filter can be removed by flipping its head over and opening the hatch at the bottom.
First, it is quieter than most other HEPA purifiers. Also, because true HEPA filtration uses such a fine mesh filter, it requires a lot of air pressure to push air through, and often requires a very noisy fan. We measured the Clorox 11010 at a maximum volume of 44dBA. In comparison, the Honeywell Power Plus True HEPA purifier has a maximum noise level of 60 dBA.
The Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier is also relatively easy to maintain. Replacement filters cost $75 and last nine months, which means you’re spending about $100 a year on average. It may seem expensive compared to non-HEPA filters, but you also get more technology and filtration options. In comparison, the other True HEPA purifier we tested costs $177 per year.
This below-average maintenance cost, combined with the relatively low purchase price, makes the Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier one of the more cost-effective options among True HEPA Air Purifiers.
This is another area that would not be impressive if the Clorox 11010 did not use a true HEPA filter. Also, real HEPA filters usually have a lower capacity because they need to push air through very small cells. The lower bandwidth means they usually struggle with larger areas.
Despite having a true HEPA filter and overall relatively small size, the Clorox 11010 can still manage a 320 sq. ft. This is much larger than the average 200-square-foot room that cleaners of this size are typically sized for.
Again, the Clorox 11010 really stands out from the competition given its low price, low maintenance and ability to meet the filtration needs of large rooms.
While we think the Clorox 11010 has a good user interface, we would have preferred the remote access for easy access.
The obvious disadvantage of an inexpensive device is that it often does not have all the smart features or additional features of other devices.
Why this is considered a disadvantage in the case of the Clorox 11010 is that the device itself does not have a remote control, so the lack of app controls means you are limited to using the controls on the device itself. If that’s not a problem for you, maybe yes. However, for those who want it to be located in a different part of the room, or prefer remote control for accessibility reasons, having to walk up to the device to control it can be a disadvantage.
The Clorox 11010 has an auto mode that turns on filtering when needed with an air quality sensor that can help with this, but it only tracks airborne particles, not volatile organic compounds. Therefore, if you need to use this purifier to disperse volatile organic compounds, you will need to run it manually.
There are currently not enough user reviews online to draw any meaningful conclusions. We will update this section when we have more user reviews.
The Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier is backed by a three-year limited warranty. The standard warranty is one year, so we’re glad Clorox went above and beyond with their warranty program.
Overall, we are very impressed with the Clorox 11010 True HEPA Air Purifier. It doesn’t top any of our categories, but it’s a solid buy for the price, offering decent all-round performance and true HEPA filtration without increasing your maintenance budget.
We love its quiet operation, smooth user interface and ease of filter replacement. It doesn’t have too many bells and whistles – the device doesn’t even have a remote control – but at the current price, it’s hard to complain about what you’re getting.
If you’re looking for a True HEPA purifier that has better particle filtration but doesn’t handle VOCs as well, take a look at the Winix 5500-2. It doesn’t look as good as the Clorox 11010, but its performance and sub-$200 price tag are undeniable.
